- Abstract
Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication, characterized by high blood pressure (that exceeds 140/90mmHg) documented in two occasions, at least four hours appart and proteinuria 0.3 g or more proteins in urine for 24 hours. It usually begins after 20 gestational weeks, in normotensive women. It affects approximately 3- 8% of pregnant women, and contributes to maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Immune and genetic factors, placental ischemia, oxidative stress etc. are resulting in abnormality of spiral arteries, placental site trophoblastic cell dysfunction, inadequate trophoblast invasion and shallow implantation that finally results with placental hypoperfusion and ischemia producing angiogenic factors that enter maternal blood circulation. The study is proceeding at the Department of Pathologic and High Risk Pregnancy, SHGO "Mother Theresa" in Skopje, and the data are estimated from March-July 2019. In a prospective study, blood samples were collected from 18 healthy pregnant women, measuring serum inhibin A, between 15-19 g.a. and Doppler values of a. uterine dex. et sin. between 20-24 g.a. From all incuded women, in 4 of them were found high values of Inhibin A, whereas in 3 of them high S/D ratio of a. uterine and notch in one. In these four patints was performed hospitalization and further diagnostic methods for preeclampsia. Preeclampsia was found in three women during 32, 34 and 35 g.a. respectively. High levels of maternal serum Inhibin A in the second trimester are significantly associated with preeclampsia. There is a positive correlation between the level of inhibin A and the value of PI of a. uterina and appearence of notch.
