- Title
POLICY ISSUES AND ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF PUBLIC AIDS TO DOMESTIC TRANSPORT.
- Authors
NELSON, JAMES C.
- Abstract
The article discusses the policy regarding public investment in domestic transport in the U.S. It is stated that the American system of mixed enterprise in transport has worked well, and has produced a fully-developed, large-scale, and competitive transport system. The annual public investments in airways, airports, highways, and waterway facilities have been expanding rapidly, but railway investment has declined. It is stated that transportation has been a field in which technological change and capital investment have resulted in cost reductions and product improvements.
