- Abstract
The article offers cancer-related news briefs in the U.S. as of August 1, 2022. The cancer mortality rate remains high among Black patients in spite of an about 2% death rate decline from 1999-2019. Findings show that a single dose of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is effective for young women protection against cervical infection with cancer-causing HPV types. The skin cancer screening increase is linked to diagnosis of early-stage melanoma and raises concerns on overdiagnosis.
