- Abstract
The article presents a six-month study on the use of sealants in a school-based preventive program. As a part of the dental hygiene awareness programs in schools in the U.S., pit and fissure sealants are being incorporated, due to a change in pattern of dental caries among children. The study included elementary level students and also included educational programs for parents and teachers, classroom dental health lesson and application of dental sealants. It was found on re-examination that 95% of students retained the sealants.
