- Title
Hanserd Knollys and Mystical Babylon Unveiled: Contemporary Perspectives and New Observations on Early English Baptist Apocalypticism.
- Authors
McGowin, Emily Hunter
- Abstract
The article discusses the treatise "Mystical Babylon Unveiled Baptist," by Hanserd Knollys, published in England in 1679 and provides analysis of its theology. Discussion is given regarding Knollys' reported indications in the treatise of a Roman Catholic conspiracy against the English government. Dennis Bustin, a second interpreter of the treatise, claimed that the writings by Particular Baptists revealed that the semi-revival in apocalypticism among such religious group is caused by Popish Plot of 1678.
