- Abstract
The article assesses the microbial processes involved in the methane transformation in different types of shallow waters of the Rybinsk Reservoir in Russia. The phase equilibrium method was used to determine the concentration of methane in the water. The processes of methane oxidation and generation were analyzed from changes in the methane content in in situ incubated experimental flasks. There was a variation in the content of methane in water of different areas during the vegetation period. The values of methane oxidation and generation show the ecological significance of methane and of the processes involved in its transformation in water for the coastal biotopes of the reservoir.
