Rodríguez, Edwin Cruz
- Abstract
In 2011 the Colombian student movement made huge protests, as has rarely been seen in recent history, to oppose the reform of higher education. The cycle of protest is due in large part by a POS favorable due to the support that it obtained the movement in sectors of the political class and the support of diverse social sectors. Nevertheless, such a degree of mobilization would not have taken place without the Mesa Amplia Nacional Estudiantil (MANE), that agglutinated the principal student organizations and, on having appeared as a wide space, it was exceeded by the enrollment of students unorganized. The movement's success was crowned by discursive strategies based on the demand for education as a right which offset the government's argument and articulated their struggle different actors.
