- Abstract
A recently published randomized clinical trial ROLARR [1] showed an advantage in favour of the robotic technique when applied to obese patients, male gender and low rectal cancer. The robotic approach to pelvic surgery has gained popularity in recent times, although numerous studies have failed to show a clear advantage for robotic colorectal surgery over the laparoscopic technique. Robotic surgery may confer advantages in morbidly obese patients with low rectal cancer - a video vignette.
