- Title
SOCIAL EXPERIMENTATION, TRUNCATED DISTRIBUTIONS, AND EFFICIENT ESTIMATION.
- Authors
Hausman, Jerry A.; Wise, David A.
- Abstract
The article proposes a maximum likelihood procedure for obtaining consistent and asymptotically efficient parameter estimates in economics. The problem posed in the paper should be distinguished from the Tobit specification although similar to the Tobit situation. The effect of education and intelligence on the earnings of workers in low level jobs with relatively low levels of education is discussed. Job productivity in some settings is affected by education and intelligence. Although education and intelligence are taken into prime consideration, there are other factors being considered that affect productivity.
