- Abstract
This article looks at efforts of hospitals in the U.S. to go green by reducing the quantity and toxicity of health care waste and developing sustainable buildings. Anna Gilmore Hall, the executive director of Health Care Without Harm, works with a group of more than 500 hospitals and medical professional who are determined to reduce pollution in the medical industry. Outreach efforts by Hospitals for a Healthy Environment educate health care workers on how to prevent pollution. Not only are these measures good for the community they decrease expenses for health facilities. Examples of winning strategies are given.
