- Abstract
Nanodiamonds are attractive carriers for use in drug delivery systems because of their small primary particle size, good biocompatibility, purity, facile surface functionalization, and inexpensive large-scale synthesis. The objective of this work was to report a novel temperature responsive nanocarrier for the docetaxel drug delivery. In this work, nanodiamonds was modified using allylamine (monomer) and N-vinylcaprolactam (thermosensitive polymer), and then third-generation poly (amidoamine) dendrimer was covalently attached to their surface. The NIR infrared photo-thermal therapy was used for anti-cancer treatments. The adsorption mechanism was fitted with Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. The successful synthesize of nanoadsorbent was confirmed by several characterization techniques. The loading and release of the anticancer drug through NIR triggering from the nanocarrier were studied to explore its potential in drug delivery system. The in-vitro docetaxel release was investigated at pH = 7.4 at different temperatures. The temperature responsive nanocarrier shows slow and continues release curve for 6 h with 98.08% at pH 7.4 at 45 °C as maximum releasing percentages. The rate of docetaxel release from the temperature responsive nanocarrier was increased following exposure to the NIR infrared laser irradiation compared with no such exposure.
