- Abstract
The article focuses on the evidence of depression in preschool-age children in the U.S. It explores the availability of age appropriate measures in assessing mental health symptoms, impairment and adaptation including tools to access the internal emotional states. It presents data on the diagnostic criteria, treatments for Autistic Spectrum Disorders and offers a look on a thematic content of play to help understand the basic cognitive and emotional developmental processes in early childhood.
