- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 20-year-old woman, who was admitted to the University Hospitals of Cleveland following a 12-month history of recurrent leg ulcers over the port-wine hemangioma of her left lower extremity. General physical examination revealed bilateral supraclavicular and anterior cervical lymphadenopathy. Examination of a biopsy specimen from the edge of the ulcer showed numerous dilated capillaries and large vessels consistent with a hemangioma. Areas of necrosis in the dermis were seen on microscopic examination, with extravasation of blood and necrosis of vessel wail and a minimal inflammatory infiltrate.
