The article presents a study which investigates the average heat flux of Earth's surface. The study employs various methods which include a half-space cooling approximation to account the hydrothermal circulation in oceanic crust and the global digital geology maps to estimate the heat flow for various geologic domains. Moreover, the study reveals that the average heat flux depends on the correlation between geology and heat flow and on the area grid.
