- Abstract
This article focuses on the need to characterize the Socio-emotional Competencies (CSE) of the Bachelor of Tourism students at the University of Camagüey, from the use of new alternatives directed to this end. In this research, the Inventory of Socio-emotional Competencies (ICSE), by Mikulic et al. (2015) is used, based on its adjustment to young Cuban university students with a Bachelor of Tourism, as this is a valuable instrument that allows a comprehensive approach to this construct. To meet these objectives, the linguistic and cultural adjustment of the same is exhibited, through the judgment of experts and, parallel to this, the application of the ICSE to the pilot group. Subsequently, the preliminary analysis of the psychometric properties of the ICSE is carried out, using IBM SPSS Statistics 20, to arrive at the characterization of the Socio-emotional Competences of university students. The results show how the ICSE adjusted to young Cuban university students is a feasible instrument for the evaluation of Socio-emotional Competences in Tourism students. Likewise, it highlights the agreement between various researchers, such as the case of Ramírez et al. (2019), Bisquerra & Pena (2007), among others, which highlight the need for the development of Socio-emotional Competences in the organizational and tourism sphere, as well as the search for new strategies for its evaluation. It can be concluded that from the characterization carried out, significant deficiencies are found in the Sociomocional Competences of the university students evaluated.
