- Abstract
Applied psychology highlights the responsibility of people in its transformation processes, in order to favor a better bond and effective development of treatment; however, if such a demanded response is commonly spread in both academic and popular language, it also requires a conceptual and operational delimitation that provides tools for a more objective promotion of the psychotherapeutic clinic. The objective of this research is to theoretically revise the concept of responsibility, pointing at epistemological approaches and their contexts. An analysis of researches in specialized databases was performed, emphasizing on publications made between the years 2000 and 2018. As a result, this study has allowed the characterization of two epistemological traditions regarding responsibility to be known: one that is moral, collective and personal and another that is existential. Conclusions: the epistemological clarity regarding psychological constructs, allows us a differential empirical approach and at the same time highlights the integration lines for a clear research practice.
