- Authors
Gilroy-Ware, Cora
- Abstract
The article explores the connection between Page 3, a tradition of the right-wing tabloid "The Sun" of publishing an image of a topless woman on page three, and classical sculpture. Topics covered include the response to representations of the naked body invoked during the Page 3 debate, a description of the apocryphal sculpture of man by Greek sculptor Praxiteles and the controversies surrounding "The Art Journal," Great Britain's first periodical aimed at bringing visual art to the masses.
