- Abstract
The author discusses the works of author Mo Yan. The author points out that Mo's imagination is influenced by a new kind of humanism and a representation of society where mankind is linked to animals, which is reflected in his new novels "Sishiyi pao" (Forty-one Cannon Shots) and "Shengsi pilao" (Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out). He also emphasizes that the demonstration of cruelty and sadism is accompanied by compassion in Mo's works.
