- Abstract
The article presents a description of a 2.40 carat bright yellow round modified brilliant vanadinite loaned by gem dealer Mark Kaufman to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Santa Monica, California. The vanadinite was obtained by Kaufman from a rough material given by Dr. Rob Lavinsky. According to Lavinsky, the material came from a new surface prospect found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Fluorescence was observed when the vanadinite was subject to long- and short-wave ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
