- Abstract
The article reports on a possible diamond inclusion in quartz from Diamantina, Brazil. Rock crystal quartz with inclusions is a popular collector's stone. Decades ago, a report was published which mentioned three diamonds embedded in Brazilian quarts crystals, one from Bahia and two from Minas Gerais. Diamonds were first discovered around Diamantina in northern Minas Gerais and they are still mined on a small scale. The diamonds are found in sedimentary rocks and in younger reworked alluvial and elluvial deposits. The area is also the largest producer of collectible transparent quartz with inclusions.
