The article discusses how smartphone owners can protect themselves or the contents of their phones against illegal search and seizure by the police, particularly in the U.S. Other topics include the technical history of passcodes, Touch identification (ID) and Face ID, secondary security used by Apple in its iPhone X phone, as well as the requirements of an act to merit protection under the self-incrimination clause of the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
