- Abstract
Aortic calcifications were found in the chest and abdominal roentgenograms of 17 out of 89 (19.1%) patients with Takayasu's arteritis. This finding proves that they are not as rare in this disease as previously thought, and that their presence in young adults particularly females should suggest the diagnosis. It is also a new recognized cause of aortic calcifications. A high incidence of hilar node calcification was found in the group (68.5%). The P.P.D. reaction (when practiced) was positive in 91.3% of those and in 85% of the series in general. The latter observations support the hypothesis of an etiological relation with tuberculosis.
