- Abstract
A technique of limb replantation which yields good functional results with no operative mortality is described. This preparation is reproducible and may be used as a model for studying various factors which lead to poor functional results in the clinical situation. Radiographic studies of the replanted limb during the edematous phase reveal venous obstruction as early as 48 hr. postoperatively. Edema regresses when the femoral vein is recanalized at about 14 days. Evidence for lymphaticovenous and venolymphatic shunts is also presented.
