- Authors
Ridings, Herbert D.; Holt, Lynn; Cook, Rebecca; Marques, Marisa B.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the primary care approach to genetic susceptibility to venous thromboembolism (VTE). It is stated that genetic thrombophilic disorders are variably common and primary care clinicians must have enough knowledge to avoid increased risk of VTE. According to the author, after being treated for an acute thrombotic event, patients with genetic thrombophilia should visit a hematologist specialist for long-term management.
