- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between the Greek Catholic gentry and the Ukrainian and Ruthenian national movement in the Galicia region of Ukraine from the late 19th century through the early 20th century. An overview of Galician peasants' relationship with the region's Polish nobility is provided. Galicia's political history, including elections, the political activity of the region's gentry, the conservative right wing and the political party the Ukrainian National Democrats, is discussed.
