From "National Socialists" to "Nazi".
- Authors
ZNAMENSKI, ANDREI A.
- Abstract
The article takes a look at the evolution of the term "Nazi." It notes that in contrast to what many Germans still refer to as the National Socialist (NS) Party from the 1930s to the 1940s, English-speaking people have used the word "Nazi" in a similar context to describe the economy, politics, and policies of German dictator Adolf Hitler. It cites that "Nazi" has been detached from its original German context and is commonly associated by Western peoples to an evil regime.
