The article discusses several incidents concerning the economic and social conditions of laborers in East Texas during the early 20th century. It examines housing conditions for the working class in East Texas, the labor organization the Texas State Federation of Labor (TSFL), and labor conditions in Houston, Texas. It also discusses the Houston Labor Council and African American laborers, the potential influence of socialism among labor unions, and unemployment in Houston.
