- Abstract
The article discusses the regulations of molecular genetic engineering and agricultural biotechnology in the U.S. It reflects on the 1993 decision of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to expand its regulatory oversight to include all genetically modified animals, including insects. Reasons of the decision include FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine subject to market research and approval procedure, and the experienced of the Agriculture Department in dealing with farm animals.
