- Title
US wipes market US$1.5 billion.
- Abstract
This article reports on a forecast by U.S.-based market research firm the Freedonia Group Inc. on the increase in demand for wipes, both consumer and industrial, as of May 2005. Demand for wipes is forecast to increase nearly 6 percent per year to $1.9 billion in 2009, propelled by further segmentation of the market and a continual spate of new product introductions. Though the wipes market in the U.S. traditionally has favored the use of airlaid substrates in its wipes products, in recent years the industry in the U.S. has witnessed a dramatic shift toward the use of spunlaced nonwovens in a number of applications. Advances for the chemicals that saturate or are deposited into wipes will derive from the increasing diversity of chemical formulations adapted to a wipes format.
