- Title
Editorial: Coronary Heart Disease and Postmenopausal Hormone Therapy: Conundrum Explained by Timing?
- Authors
Mikkola, Tomi S.; Clarkson, Thomas B.
- Abstract
The article comments on the effect of using postmenopausal hormone therapy (HT) on coronary heart diseases. It mentions several studies which deals with cardiovascular effects of long-term HT from women choosing to continue HT for several years. It also mentions the result of the randomized clinical trials which showed a null effect of HT on both secondary prevention and what has been considered primary prevention. The author suggests that treatment decisions about HT should be make on an individual basis, taking into account troublesome climacteric symptoms and HT-associated risk factors.
