- Abstract
The article presents a study conducted by researcher N. Aït-Ali and colleagues that shows interaction between cone and rod cells, which can be used for treatment of Retinitis pigmentosa, published in a 2015 issue of the journal "Cell." It mentions that hyperactivation of mammalian target of rapamycin1 (mTOR1) increases survival of cone cells. The study shows that rod-derived cone viability factor (RdCVF) secreted from rod cells promotes survival of cone cells in mouse model of disease.
