- Abstract
The article focuses on the interpretation of the phenomena of solar eclipse by artists and painters from the time of early Renaissance in their art work and paintings and mentions that early artists portrayed this phenomenon in their painting on the basis of direct observations, scientific documents and contemporary theory. It further expands on the work of various artists and painters related to the solar eclipse including Taddeo Gaddi, Ippolito Caffi and Howard Russell Butler.
