- Abstract
The article looks at legal background of the U.S. Animal Welfare Act and analyzes the law's Chapter 568's potential to protect California's lost and abandoned animals. Topics include report of the Humane Society of the United States on the number of animals used annually in research, testing, and education in the country; immediate effect of banning pound seizure of living animals on the society; and monitoring of research facility by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in context to animal use.
