The article explores the use of human papillomavirus (HPV) test to screen primary cervical cancer, which was a practice approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2014. Topics discussed include the effectiveness of the HPV test in primary cervical cancer screening compared to traditional Pap test and the important factors to be considered before using the test based on a study conducted by Gage and colleagues on the use of HPV test for cancer screening.
