- Title
Era of Personalized Medicine May Herald End of Soaring Cancer Costs.
- Authors
Keogh, Bryan
- Abstract
The article explores the potential use of personalized medicine in improving outcomes and addressing the rising cost of cancer care. A "Lancet Oncology" report cites overuse of healthcare, its rapid expansion and shortened lifecycles of cancer technologies as some of the factors influencing costs. By 2015, the U.S. personalized medicine market is projected to grow to more than 450 billion U.S. dollars. Professor Richard Sullivan points out the key to achieving real cost savings.
