- Title
President's Cancer Panel Stirs Up Environmental Health Community.
- Authors
Holzman, David C.
- Abstract
The article discusses the criticisms against a report released on May 6, 2010 by U.S. President Barack Obama's Cancer Panel. It mentions that a report grossly underestimated the percentage of cancers that can be attributed to environmental pollutants and ignored other major environmental causes of cancer such as smoking, diet and infection. It cites studies which suggest that workplace exposures and environmental contaminants account for only a small fraction of cancers. It indicates the use of the panel's report to influence legislation.
