- Title
Parousia, Jesus' 'A-triumphal' entry, and the fate of Jerusalem (Luke 19:28-44).
- Authors
Kinman, Brent
- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the New Testament Gospel passage of Luke 19:28-44, which describes the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. The article argues that the key to understanding Jesus Christ's comments in the passage is the background of celebratory welcomes in the ancient world. The characterization of Jerusalem's response to Jesus as an insult and Jesus' remarks about the destruction of the city are also addressed.
