- Abstract
Laser resonant multistep atomic photoionization is employed to measure evaporation rates and saturated vapor pressures of cadmium sulfide and pure cadmium in temperature ranges of 585-950 and 350-535 K, respectively. It is shown that CdS thermally dissociates into Cd atoms and S[SUB2] molecules. The photoionization of cadmium atoms follows the scheme [This equation can not be represented in ASCII.TXT] The minimal pressure of pure cadmium is found to be 10[SUP-11]mm Hg.
