The absorption spectra of silicate glass CdSe[sub 1-x]S[sub x] composite as a function of temperature are studied. At the early stage of thermal treatment, a shift in the absorption edge toward longer waves is associated with an increase in the density of critical nuclei. A further shift of the spectra is due to the growth of semiconductor nanocrystallites.
