- Abstract
Protection of competition, primarily, implies the protection of individual economic freedom. This is derived from the 1991 Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia. The Republic of Macedonia, by signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union and its member states, has, among other things, committed to adjusting its legislation to the legislation of the European Union in the part of the existence of monopoly enterprises, the abuse of monopoly behavior, which it can disrupt free competition. Hence, the paper will address the abuse of the dominant position of the monopolistic enterprises on the Union market, the most common forms of abuse, the legal measures for the protection of competition, as well as the purpose of the system for applying the rules for protection of competition
