- Abstract
In liberal societies, in addition to free access to information, one of the most important legal standards is transparency. Given the various debates on the new media law, rules and ethics of the media in Macedonia, and also how the media operate in the country, this paper addresses some elements of self-regulation in the field of media in Macedonia. Self-regulation is the opposite model of legal regulation (or state regulation). In this paper, problems of self-regulation are initially processed and analyzed, and suggestions are offered in the form of some instruments that should govern the self-regulation of the media in Macedonia. This paper aims to reveal the main problems of journalism in Macedonia, based on various stories and media phenomena which occur very rarely in the world, and also aims to propose some practical solutions to reinforce the freedom of media in Macedonia.
