- Title
The 'Shock Factor': ICD Configuration and Programming to Optimize Shock Treatment.
- Authors
SHIYOVICH, ARTHUR; KATZ, AMOS
- Abstract
The authors reflect on implantable cardioverter defibrillators and on the proper configuration and programming of the defibrillators which is required to optimize shock treatment. They suggest that the use of defibrillators has evolved into a fundamental therapeutic option. They argue that the proper configuration and programming of the devices involves many complex choices and that the settings which are found on the devices when they are removed from their boxes are not optimal.
