- Title
Predictors of response to treatment with biologics in people with moderate-to-severe psoriasis.
- Abstract
This article, published in the British Journal of Dermatology, explores the predictors of response to treatment with biologics in people with moderate-to-severe psoriasis. The study investigates whether age at psoriasis onset or genetic factors, specifically the HLA-C*06:02 allele, affect how individuals respond to biologic drugs. The researchers used data from two large registers of patients with psoriasis in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The findings indicate that age at psoriasis onset does not significantly impact biologic survival, but individuals with the HLA-C*06:02 allele respond better to ustekinumab compared to those without the allele. This information can assist dermatologists in selecting the most effective treatment for each patient.
