- Abstract
The article analyses whether the U.S. Congress under the Mandatory Victims Restitution Act of 1996 (MVRA) intended for corporations to recover the costs of independent internal investigations from a criminal defendant. Topics include legislative history associated with MVRA to determine Congress's original intent when enacting the law, expenses incurred after conducting an independent internal investigation, and circuit split within U.S. Court of Appeals regarding restitution of the MVRA.
