- Abstract
In the PISA 2006 were evaluated both scientific competence includes understanding the nature of science as students' attitudes toward science and scientific work. Although attitudes were positive, scientific literacy is below the average of the sample. In the approach Science, Technology and Society (STS) provides that a scientifically literate person understands the nature of science and show positive attitudes toward science. This paper presents the results of the diagnosis of the attitudes of junior high school physics teachers who follow a virtual course on development of scientific competence. This diagnosis allowed to achieve two objectives: the first was to corroborate the utility of the Questionnaire of Opinions on Science, Technology and Society (COCTS for its acronym in Spanish) in a country other than their home and the second was to detect ambiguity in beliefs and attitudes that teachers hold about relations STS.
