- Title
Self-reading friction stir welding tool closes keyhole.
- Abstract
The article reports that the NASA George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama is developing a tool capable of conventional friction stir welding while manipulating pin length in real time. Currently there is no system available that can carry out self-reacting friction stir welding (SR-FSW) while making real time adjustments. The implications of this discovery are discussed.
