- Abstract
The article discusses the potential of service-learning, a teaching method often found in the social studies, to promote and improve citizenship education. It states that service-learning provides a meaningful, integrative, value-based, challenging, and active teaching and learning for social studies students. It notes that service-learning standards for quality help teachers who are interested to take the academic content standards for social studies. It mentions organizations in Ohio are willing to help any teacher who wants to offer and promote service-learning within their schools.
