- Title
Count Zinzendorf's Encounter with Judaism and the Jews. A Fictitious Dialogue from 1739.
- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship of 18th century Moravian theologian Nicolaus von Zinzendorf to Jews and Judaism through a critical examination of his fictional narrative-dialogue illustrating Christian doctrinal theology. It describes Zinzendorf's philo-semitism and theological generousness to Judaism, the overall relationship between Pietism and Judaism, and the influence of Zinzendorf's approach to Judaism on subsequent Christian theology. A reprint of Zinzendorf's dialogue with a Jew is also presented.
