- Abstract
The article presents a literary critique of French popular fiction after World War II, focusing on a series of short stories published under the name "Le Conte de France-Soir" by the Paris-based evening newspaper "France-Soir" in 1945. It particularly examines gender and gender roles in these stories, most of which concerned sexual relationships. Stories considered include “Heureux pères,” by Georges Dolley, “Crêpe satine,” by Thyde Monnier, and "Jeannette et Bérénice,” by Marcel Segal.
