- Abstract
The article discusses a study which aimed to assess the impact of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) in children on the level of their everyday physical activity and to explore whether the activity level is related to adiposity. For the assessment of the level of everyday physical activity, measurements were performed with an accelerometry-based Activity Monitor during two consecutive schooldays in 12 children with PWS and in 12-age- and gender-matched healthy children. Results of the study indicate that, as a group, children with PWS have an inactive lifestyle, however, children with PWS cannot be stereotyped as inactive since half of them had normal activity levels.
